RIVERA VALENZUELA, Juan Maria de.
Mapa de la Ciudad, Y Famosa Plaza de Armas de Gibraltar, segun sus novissimas Fortificaciones...
Seville: Francisco Sanchez Reciente, c.1760.
A very unusual Spanish-text broadside, with a map-view of Gibraltar with a letterpress key and a history of the Rock until 1726. It was written by Don Juan Maria de Rivera Valenzuela Pizarro y Eslava (1730-66), probably when the Seven Years's War gave the Spanish another opportunity to retake the fortress. The dedication is to Juan José Navarro (1687-1772), Director General of the Spanish Navy, who was made 1st Marquis of la Victoria in 1744 for beating the British at Toulon.
Euros 1450.
